My wife attended the 2004 East Coast 8-Fest, May 20-23 in South Carolina. We left Baton Rouge on Wednesday evening and drove to Montgomery, AL. The following morning we left for SC and drove until we reached Greenville. After we checked into the Hyatt Hotel we attended the social event and dinner where we had the opportunity to meet other 8 members. On Friday morning we drove to the BMW Factory and had the opportunity to visit the BMW museum and take a guided tour of the assembly plant. After lunch he headed over to the BMW Performance Driving Center [PerformanceCenter] and I had the opportunity to test my skills performing some high performance driving manuvers. I drove several different new BMW's including the: Z4, M3, 645, X5 and a 760iL. Driving was on the BMW test track including the simulated off road mountain driving in the X5. On Saturday we left for a leisure (at least that was what the program said!!!) 4 hour drive through the mountains on the Blue Ridge Parkway. Imagine about 50+ BMW 8s driving in a caravan; other drivers were pulling over to let us pass! Saturday afternoon we returned to the hotel for several hours of very informative tech sessions on the 8 series. On Saturday evening we all gathered for the closing Banquet. Many door prizes were awarded as members enjoyed a wonderful German meal. We departed early on Sunday and drove back to Baton Rouge with a brief stop in Atlanta.
